Back to the Sound- Updates Pending-

Picture with Shadow

You could try and hold any common evening light

up to time where once upon lost and found the picture

appeared that had eluded you so resolutely.

You could have tried to explain to your son

why it was years ago they named a body of water

“The Sound”  (after drinking of its’ voice)

…but you rush down here instead.

I suppose you needed to see that ghost again.

Could that be him tucked in the mirror

or maybe just walking out down the other end

of a tired worn old barroom

from the long hallway of crashing doors?

Did he leave a bushel basket

of forgotten intents and purposes here?

So that you could try and capture

a picture with shadow?

Did your desire to be that odd stranger

with a long secret past appear

as the six o’clock whistle howls suppertime?

So you take out a pair of pliers

and affix them to the silence

and for once

perhaps the only time

you didn’t try and explain.
